We believe in an applied approach to health and well-being. In psychology there is a construct called Subjective Well-Being (SWB). This is a very strong indicator of overall well-being.
SWB is a person’s cognitive and affective evaluations of his or her own life. Basically how they see their life progress.
These evaluations include experience of emotions, levels of negative moods, and life satisfaction. So how do we influence SWB and thereby influence optimism as a strategy to living well?
There is an answer to this question! It is build resilience. Resiliencey is a pattern over time characterized by good adaptation despite risk and stress or adversity. It is learning how to flex your adaptive muscles to handle challenge. If you or someone you know is struggling with a challenge, practice resilience building skills to influence your life skills and your overall perspective. If you believe you can succeed or overcome, you will!
